I have a theory Runaway voltage drop.The voltage was dropping at the regulator because the regulator was drawing power to energize the alt. That voltage drop caused the regulator to think the voltage was lower than it really was, so it sent more power to the alt until it was going full field and the voltage caught up to what the setpoint was. Then it reduced the field current, reducing the power it was drawing, causing the voltage to go above the set point, so then it turns off for a second.Rinse and repeatGoing to run some thicker wire from the alt (+) to the regulator. Reminder: you can never have too much wire.
