I think his idea of keeping his stock alt then going with a 220 amp HO secondary(or even another 185 factory alt) is a great idea. In the future he could always swap the first HO alt out as a 12v alt and buy another HO alt and run it at 16v or whatever. The reason I am looking at a dual alt in the first place is because it is actually a little cheaper to get the dual alt kit with a 200 amp alt than it is to get a say 350 amp HO alt. I will be running more amps at Idle and just as much or more at max output. Plus it looks cool!
