Yeah it was the 3rd one I made. Only because the first one got destroyed by some retarded freshmen who turned the wheel on max speed when I left it between classes so it spun off and got mangled. Then the second try got to the stage pictured, and went in for the first firing but the teacher was horrible at running the kiln and he blew it up. The third one (pictured) made it all the way to glaze firing, but we tried some new chrome stuff he never used before, it didn't come out chrome at all, and it blew out a back portion slightly. I fixed it up for the show, but I left it there over summer so he could use it to display for the summer class, tells me beginning of senior year he dropped it and broke it when setting up for the school year. I've never been so mad. It takes a good 5 hours each to throw them, and then glazing takes about a week. I wish I would have done something like that. I made a bunch of segmented bowls that got thrown away or given away. Wood would be much less brittle and more forgiving of stupid teachers...that is if your school has a woodshop. I know my highschool and college both had awesome ones. I was too advanced for the meaningless pots and bowls he had the class doing, and I was good at the wheel so I figured this would be the coolest thing I could make. I don't need to do any arts in college because I did AP-3D senior year after ceramics and it transfers. The worst part about it was how often he destroyed completely full kiln loads..... I thought it was common for the kiln to blow things up until I talked to everyone I knew at other schools who said they literally never had anything besides 1 piece crack or break over the entire year..........I had probably 5-8 pieces turned to dust each semester.
