for the roof why couldn't you just do layers of 1/8" board and glue them together to make it solid? ive done it on about 3 different vehicles now including my current one. works good every time. all you need is 1/8" board and a car jack with some 2x4s to hold it up until the liquid nails or whatever adhesive you using drys. then a layer of deadener over that if you want. the roof will be stiff as fuck though.

How many layers do you have though? I'd only be able to get one, maybe two in there and still have the headliner go back in. It just doesn't sound like it would give much support, and with a single layer might even break.

i do about 3 or 4 layers. BUT if you can manage 2 layers i think it will be more rigid then just deadener alone will be. just make sure and use a good adhesive like loctite pl 10x i think its called. i had OK results with liquid nails. if i had to do it again i would go with the loctite adhesive.

Yeah, heard about the Loctite. Just afraid only two layers will break. But I think I might be able to throw some thicker wood in the roof ribs and still do those 2 layers. Should be good then. Still tryin to figure it out I guess.

You can fit 3/4 on the roof between the braces and it wont extend past them

Without deadener it will fit in/under the brace on that little notch

Just checked, and 3/4" won't fit, but 1/2" will. Gonna do that. Might just do that, not sure if anything else is really worth it. Maybe glue 1/8" to the deadener that's already there in between the thicker strips.

its only a little shd, id be suprised if you get mirror movement

Man, I wish that's all I had. Would save me a lot of trouble.

Oh...thought I did 3/4

Maybe not lol

Well it's weird. Seems like it will fit through the back brace, but not the one just forward of that. Just gonna do 1/2.

So, found the AT starting to peel:

Was still very stuck to the roof though. No issues there.

So my first idea was to cut wood strips and glue them into the ribs of the roof. So I cut the deadener in prep for that:

But after I cut them, they were extremely flimsy. Like, I was scared they would just crack and/or not give support at all. So here's what I ended up doing:

Shoved some wood pieces in between the braces and the roof. Should give some decent support. Before the braces weren't in contact with the roof, so it still had room to move. I think this was a decent move.

Then, I found some extra AT laying around. It's 3-4 layers in the back now. Figured I'd try to at least lower the resonating frequency.

I'm done with this. Could have done some more, but I'm annoyed at this point and tired of spending money on it right now. I did look back at some videos and it was moving a lot, but less than I thought. With what I just did, should be about the same after the extra cone area, port direction, and closer proximity to the roof. I hope.
