2003 Kia Sorento Build log (Pair of Team AA 15's in and playing)

Curious about the low end on the new recones. Vids?

The low end sounds a lot nicer with the new recons, but I haven't tried much low end because it eats up my voltage for breakfast.

Hopefully my extra runs and northstar group 31 does the trick, my batts are shit.

Videos wont be for a while, been working 12 hours a day and haven't had time to record.

Welcome to life.

Yeap, and I'm always having to fix shit in this, but never have the time to do it, and I'm never motivated to work on the car on the weekends due to being exhausted all week long.

Small update

First off, deadened the crap out of my roof, nearly emptied a box of Stinger Roadkill bulk pack(sq ft)

Not pictured, but I wanted to try out some closed cell foam harbor freight sold(go figure), it's a closed cell foam floor mat and it's only $8
http://www.harborfreight.com/anti-fatigue-roll-mat-61241.html

Tried it on my doors first, noticed much better midbass, reduction of rear wave, and better midrange quality. So I bought more, and covered over the deadener on the roof, for small spaces, Loctite 300 spray adhesive works great, and for large areas, double sided carpet tape.

Closed cell acts more of a cushion for some parts, like for parts where metal hits metal(stupid sunroof), and adds for better acoustics in the vehicle, and also helps for panel rattle.

Overall, deadening the roof made a big difference sound quality wise, with the reduction of rattle, I can hear my frontstage alot more clearly.

Here's also a big update, the custom recones gained me a 1db (this is outlaw style)

I still have to do my extra runs( I have 47ft of Royal Exelene 2/0 welding cable, and 65 ft of Execution Audio wire[got it dirt cheap lol), new battery terminals to make, and still waiting on the arrival of my Northstar Group 31 from the factory, because my voltage is absoulte crap.

Lets see if I can squeeze out that 50 outlaw :)

50 in imminent. Your peak freq dropped a lot, definitely gonna stop by for a demo in October when I come back to Florida.

Few updates

Modified the spare dash to fit in my new voltmeters

Plasti dipped it to liven it up a bit

Plasti dipped the dual inputs I got as well, white for positive, black for negative
10511441_943967065620213_323475574394335and my new battery, a Northstar Group 31
10448675_943967118953541_902888392944926and heres it installed, tried to make the rats nest a little better, though hard to go from 4 batteries to 1

Well here's the review of it

From just installing it, I noticed a good difference, well first off, the car started better, and I gained a volt overall, now music averages in the 13's instead of low 12's on my 4 batteries, overall I'm happy with it

Always wondered why my hdc3s didn't like the low end of things so much. Spiders are to stiff.

Your build is solid and looks loud!

I'm in the process of building a new box for my subs. 8" port instead of 6" and all around better box so should really give me a big gain

Thank you man

Yeah, stock parts played lows alright for me, but I have a rather large box, though the stiff spiders made them very inefficient as well, suckers came stiff and stays stiff, even after half a year beating them, which is why I went custom on the recones. New recones gained me a db and its louder to the ear.

Yeah, those 12's should love the bigger port, though try to see if you can get a flared 8inch like from pychoacoustics, I plan on rounding mine over sometime soon since I do get some noise(not very auidble, but still there).
