I plan on competing in the Texas Heat Wave down in Austin, TX next month since it's only an hour away from me. I definitely know my current setup won't be as loud as everyone else, but I'm mainly going just to see other peoples builds and I'm curious to what I score on the meter. Everyone starts somewhere right? I currently have two CVX's on a Kicker CX 1200.1 amp. Each speaker ran at 2ohms, and a 145 H/O alt, as well as big 3. 0 gauge power and ground. They are in a 4 cubed box and tuned to 32hz. To me, it sounds loud and definitely hits the lows. My rearview mirror fell off. It's all in a 05 Honda Civic SI hatchback; port about an inch or two away from hatch; subs facing up. How well do you guys think I would do in a competition? I know people tune high for spl, but can I still score relatively high tuned at 32? Thank you so much for the help guys.

Just see what you do, check out some of the big systems and talk to their owners. A few hatchback owners may pop in with their little tricks. But main thing is to have fun at the meet. Alrighty, thanks! I'm hoping to get at least 140db out of my setup haha. Maybe it would be better if I looked into SQ events instead, since I may prefer to keep my car as a daily driver rather than an SPL car. I dunno. I'll just go and see what happens. Should be fun!

Toofast4u Posted June 21, 2013 Report Posted June 21, 2013 You have a hatchback, higher scores are easier to achieve because of the horn effect a hatchback gives. I'm sure you'll be happy with your score.
alaskanzx5 Posted June 22, 2013 Report Posted June 22, 2013 did a 143 on the dash on a term lab with 2 t2d412 on a t1500.1bdcp at 45-48hz. 2003 ford focus hatchback 4 door. tuned to 43hz with 64" of port in a 4cuft box after displacement. sub up, slot port up on the passenger side. i could have done a decent amount better i think. less port area to peak at a higher freq, bigger box since i was underpowering, port on driver side. there are other little things i might have been able to do. maybe could have gained 1-2db but oh well live and learn. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.
