Whose calling a 105 amp alt high output?

Amps are amps. It's just the number.

When you take mechmans 370 amp alts, that's high output.

i shook this one kids hand and it just folded in mine. long story short i fucked his girlfriendso.. yeah..

You want this to happen to you? Give decent handshakes people.

An alternator would be considered "HO" if it puts out well over the stock OEM current rating when fitting in the stock location.

putting out 105a at idle as opposed to a stock unit which prolly does half that at idle COULD ... eh maybe called h/o. but not really 105a is pretty run of the mill no matter the running conditions.

Setup:

2010 Hyundai Elantra

Factory Unit via 4 chan NVX LOC

Excessive Amperage "H/O" Alt

Xs D3400/ Xs XP3000

Big 3. 2 Runs of +, 2 Runs of -

High Output is a purely subjective term because you have to measure it relative to a benchmark. If the factory alternator is a 60 amp but they have an optional 105 amp alternator, then they'll call the larger one an HO alternator. But compared to my 160 amp factory alternator, it's not high output. And while my HO alternator is HO relative to the standard alternator Dodge offered, it certainly isn't HO compared to an aftermarket 200 amp alternator.

Any time someone claims "High Output" or something similar to me, my response is... compared to what?

There's a famous sound engineer who's become a zillionaire peddling Tandy full range drivers in odd shaped boxes because he knows most people have never listened to a benchmark audio system...

An "HO" alternator has nothing to do with comparing vehicle to vehicle. That'd be unfair comparing an alt from a Geo Metro to one from a Hummer H2.

If the alternator you purchase performs better then the stock alt (idle or full output) then it could be considered HO.
