like I said before take the clutch fan out and put in electric fans in, all the new trucks are like this now thats the reason they are getting 22+ miles.an also you will loose mpg when cold because of the veichal running richer but on the plus cold air=more hp also about the voltage thats true did mine and lost about 1.5mpg when playing my system which drops to 11v

save money and buy a daily, maybe even an auction. get a little commuter. I had an escort manual tranny got up to about 38-40mpg at one point. had over 150k miles on it but the head was rebuilt. paid 300 for it and it came with the stuff to replace/rebuild the head (it was warped).

if voltage drop is bad during driving turn the volume down. less voltage going to the engine means weaker spark. if its real bad it could affect the reading on some of the sensors but im not sure on that. k&n filters have been proven to increase mpg and so has cold air intakes.

well I cant think of anything not mentioned so I not going to repeat more then I already did.

ive been looking into a different daily. just use truck for towing and winters. but that will most likely have to wait until atleast spring. id want something decent that i dont have to dump money into and can drive for a while. i mean my truck looks brand new and its a 97. id wanna look around 03 and on with lowerish miles and no more than maybe $1200

it depends which setup and the cfm a dual fan setup will draw a bit but you can go single around 2500 cfm to 3k cfm and be alright on stock alt I'm planning on getting 2,600 cfm for my dakota with stock 90amp as for just changing the fan for a lighter its still the same the motor is still going to push air which thats the reason for the mpg difference with eletrical fan you taking stress off the motor which makes it happier.

I saw on that spike episode they just replaced the fan without the shroud. Just used stock shroud. Might have to look into that. 16" fan sound good? Ive got a 136a alt but my system is roughly 2000w and it dims bad at night so I try not to hammer on it then.

Injectors I wont get into. We have a mechanic but im wanted something that can be done without him and special tools. The fan and wiring crap I can do. Cai idk bout. I wanna try and get another battery up there where the filter box is if possible. But might have to go kn filter for now as the reputable cai companies seem to be well over 200.

I agree with slow down. My 99 toyota Tacoma ext cab 2wd 5speed gets 26 mpg hwy if I speed( 67-70) I have got a best of 32 mpg hwy by setting cruise at 60. I just don't ever get in a hurry and give myself plenty of time to get to work. I also check tire pressure every couple weeks. I put redline oil in my trans and royal purple in the rear dif. Change oil every 6000 miles. I check my mileage at every fill up. I never just put in half tank always close to empty then fill. Run seafoam before winter and then summer. All this helps.

Bad front end alignment can also cause a lot of front end drag. Bad brakes or calipers dragging etc like that.
