Tarball Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 Do your big 3. Not a good idea to upgrade the alt and not upgrade the wiring. Your alt can now put out more power than the iwres can handle and you can either melt something or pop the fusible link and or fuse. Yes no subs yet, my temp box is being built for the temp 12 that I am putting in. I hope to have my big 3 done in the next 2 weeks if work goes well. My biggest issue is I am not sure I can get to the ALT power and ground myself so I might have to pay to have it done. ChevyBoy95 Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 honestly with a 300a alt, only stock size XS batt, and big 3, you should not be seeing anything .1 or .2 below idle voltage running just a few hundred watts. edit: if you havent upgraded the charge lead to 1 or 2 runs of 1/0 OFC or 1 run of SHCA 2/0, do that FIRST. Maybe you have a huge choke point waiting to burn.... literally. But still a stock alt with a D3400 up front on 400-500w shouldnt lower you a full volt. Do it with a meter......at point of source. didnt even think of that, forgot those come with the cig lighter adapter until you clip it. x2, put a meter into the pos and neg of the migs/highs amp and see what you get.
