Tore it all apart turned them around and MUCH happier! 3 weeks til I see if it helped on the meter, but it sure sounds like it will! I might even put in a second battery by then!

Maybe that trunk is better off with subs facing the rear, not all trunk cars are louder forward and sealed

another idea for ya.....It you can, turn the box forward-facing again but shove it all the way back to the trunk lid and see how it sounds.

this, there has to be a reason why pretty much anyone that's loud from the trunk firing into the cabin shoves their box as far back as possible into the trunk before sealing it off.

The higher notes could just be echoing off of the trunk lid in a sense. When I had a single 12 in the trunk facing forward I remember the higher notes seeming quieter than the lower notes and they never really came through as well. Granted I never tried turning the box around and firing to the rear but it might just be the case that the higher notes "echo" when rear firing

I've tried every which way now. It is just simply loudest pointing back. I did cut some vent holes in the plastic/carpet liner in the trunk. This allows the sound/pressure/air to get into the hollow structure from the trunk to the cabin. That made a difference. I also found a rubber flapper vent from the trunk to outside the car. I pulled it out and sealed it. Another small difference there. I have pulled the box out and pulled the short side of the port out. Depending on the calculator I use, I went from 28-30 to 32-34 hz. Small change but it was easy! I am also in the process of applying resin to the entire interior of the box. Oh, and a battery in the trunk! Hoping that lots of little things add up to a decent change for the better! I would at least like to get back to the 141.9 I did before!
