confused on getting Ho alternator or second battery..

my stock alternator is 105amps, i have a optima under hood and ketniek hc2400 in the back, big 3. now some ppl say i shouldnt get a bigger alternator and just get a third battery so 2 batteries in the trunk. but doesnt that mean more strain on the alternator? if i get one im gonna get a mechman 170amp for 300$ volts do drop to high 11s and my amp is 3k

i just hear so many mixed things, its not even funny, maybe just my hc2400 sucks and i need xs power lol

In all honesty: you'll need both for a 3000 watt amp

if your system demands more current than your altenator can produce you need a bigger alt. if your system is pulling more than your alt can produce regardless of how many batteries you have you will have voltage drop, may not go below 12 but wont be 14

My stock alt was 160 and I swapped it out. if i was you I would swap alt and then see where your voltage is at while playing stereo

good points made. thought about the 220 but thats 400$ pricey but guess you gotta pay to play

In this case I would do the alternator and see how your voltage is and then vote from there.
