Subs dont need break in. If they smell its very faint and its not that electrical smell

The sub is not old so I was under the impression the smell was the break in period.

I've seen subs blow before by clipping but I've never seen one catch fire.

you break in a fi sub by just beating the living fuck out of it with unclipped power..

breakin done

:ninja:

When your at the top everyone is coming for you, friends, family, haters and even those who don't know you.. my advice.. KILL EM ALL

that pic shows those leads were clipped to fucking hell and back

:ninja:

The leads being "sandwiched" between the spider on top and bottom, (I believe to fight tinsel slap) MAY cause the leads to "touch". Instead of flap around IF they do break. Do I make sense? Just tossin that out there.

I'm just really surprised you were able to do that damage.

MOST the people I know running sp4's are purposely slight clipping these subs. For months. Years even. And, with more power.

I dont get it. That HAD to be some very very heavy abuse????

He didn't have spider spacers though. This was my first thought as the ones i've seen catch fire have all had the spacers on them. Ah well ..

What frequency was played to scope the amp?

Could of scoped it at a different frequency then the bass boost, therefore you wouldn't see the clipping.

...moral: Don't boost. :D
