You could wake up tomorrow an bitcoins are useless and your sitting there looking crazy. silk road has a million US dollars worth of transactions per month with bitcoins. its the currencys largest form of use. as long as that place stays open and running, there shouldn't really be any worry about bit coins becoming useless, especially overnight.
