LuFi Posted August 25, 2013 Report Posted August 25, 2013 So I have this idea of making a backpack sub. Planning to use it at home and on the go. I mean to put a 15 inch sub + enclosure and amp inside a backpack so my first problem is power. I need a battery to power it on the go, and was thinking of a 3 cell Li-Po battery that charges to 12.6 volts or a 4 cell Li-Fe battery that charges to 14.4 volts. I'm guessing 14.4 is better for a car amp? Problem number two. How big of a box do I need for a 15 inch sub? If it needs to be huge, well there goes my plans.. The amp in mind is a Pioneer GM-D9601 and sub would be a Boss 15 inch 1300 rms. Any help I can get is much appreciated!

Beanz Posted August 25, 2013 Report Posted August 25, 2013 Won't fit.. You need a really big ass backpack for that.. I could barley a stereo and a battery and a 6*9 in my backpack That's why they don't deliver. Yer ass better go sit along the side of the road and wait. You can't expect them to travel up some dirt road in a hick / back woods town. Thats how horror movies start I explain things very simply and use analogies in terms of Pickles, and grape drink, pool noodles and jackhammers...if you can't put 2 and 2 together there man, There simply is not much more I can do.

LuFi Posted August 25, 2013 Author Report Posted August 25, 2013 So you guys think it's a better idea to just hook it up to my pc and keep it there
TeamHT Posted August 25, 2013 Report Posted August 25, 2013 It's not something new, but not done with a 15". That is just very stupid for lack of a nicer way of saying it. Part of acoustics is how a sub reacts in a given space (enclosure) and then how that enclosure reacts in a given environment. You may have a subwoofer, box, and power source, but you're not carrying bass around. There's practically nothing for the subwoofer. You could though still work out a plan and run some nice speakers for a proper midbass and still have a good musical experience. It would essentially be like a backpack boombox, but then completely removes the function of the backpack for anything other than the boombox. When I was in middle school, first thing I did was take some old hifi speakers and splice them into my earphones on my walkman/CD player and take them with me on the school bus. In high school I used some nice little shelf speakers, and made my own little cabinet, added some comps and an 8" woofer. It was alright and fun when I did it but it didn't really do anything now that I think about it. If you're under 18, I say grab some speakers and play around. If not...get some decent headphones and enjoy bass you can actually hear Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
LuFi Posted August 25, 2013 Author Report Posted August 25, 2013 I had a pair of small 3w speakers a few years ago but no bass in them. I have nice headphones too but I just want MORE! I just tested how an 8 inch sub with a good size enclosure would fit in a large backpack and well I guess you were right. No game. Well then what about some 6x9 speakers for a semi good mobile audio experience? They should have some bass as well right? So amp and sub for home and a car stereo with some 6x9's for out and about? Should be less power hungry too. I hope this is something that is actually doable!
Watch the bass Posted August 25, 2013 Report Posted August 25, 2013 Saw and heard something like a disco bagpack in Amsterdam on a little streetparade, the looked diffrend to those. Maby it would be easyer to make a sub on a troly and you build a aplication that you can carry him, if it needed "in the abundance of water, the fool is thirsty" Bob Marley

I will look into this. All the ready made stereo backpacks I have seen are so underpowered but I willsee what this disco backpack is made of.
