i am not saying get rid of the people that want the service for free.. if you dont pay you dont access to 18+ even when you can be, if you are a free member you get basic SMD.. if pay for it, make a new symbol by the screen names, so it can be a bronze circle or symbol, same for silver, and same for gold, and have plantnum account which is like 75.00 a yr.

Then say if you get a bronze membership you get a smd window sticker

then if you get the silver membership you get a smd cup or something

then if you buy the Gold package you get a hat or a beanie

then if you buy the platnum package you get a shirt and a sticker or something..

mods and admins get free membership of course wince they do so much for us anyway..

put it a vote... if smd charged would you stay..

i think thats a good idea, have different packages give different features

A little off topic, sorry..

Xtremespl, A home connection is not no where near fast enough to run a server that is requiring enough bandwidth.

I got a 10mb download and a 2mb upload speed with Charter Cable.

I also got a dell poweredge server sitting next to my desk, I tried running a game server off my home connection and my internet connection could not keep up

Its the upload speeds that you need for a server, and even 2mb aint crap compaired to what a host can offer.

On the otherhand.

Steve, when we use to have our 4 game servers colocated in the chicago equonix we had a nice chunk of bandwidth for $140 a month, but again our host couldnt supply the needed bandwidth, it got to be too expensive and we ended up pulling our servers out.

Colocation is a great idea and somewhat cheaper to webhosting, but you just need your own box. I dont know if you guys have internap in cali (i think you do) but I would try to talk to them about co locating maybe.

I got a server here for you steve if you wanted to try going that route, you just have to pay the shipping and its yours, lol.

thanks for all the suggestions guys and thats some good info AF...thanks for offering your server! Im gonna talk to dave more about this when he gets back. At this point i might just upgrade to my own server where im already at. For $150 a month i can wash all my worrys away for a while...changing hosts might be a pain in the ass so thats something im not looking forward to any more then the money...

Steve have you looked into a file sharing host. Zshare will allow you to stream the video without a download. If you think thats where its coming from i think you can sign up for free and host videos. .Screenshot the videos with the link and let Zshare eat the bandwidth.

Use a gmail account as a file hoster. I haven't read much more on this, just an idea, might be a bad one.
