Watch the bass
1.). Clamping is not a reliable way to measure amplifier output. 2.). You're looking at one frequency, try a sweep. 3.). At resonance, the impedance of your sub rises greatly so it would naturally reduce amplifier output. Doesn't mean your sub outputs less, as you've stated. 4.). Check out Tiny D's vids on clamping. 5.). Hard to tell on mobile. If you have multiple wires from your sub terminals, make sure all wires from the same polarity are through the clamp meter. ^^^ Edit - nice, I intercepted a double post!!! ^^^Of "Tiny D. vid´s" Or did he mean "Tyni D vid´s" "in the abundance of water, the fool is thirsty" Bob Marley
audiofanaticz
First things first, cheap meters = even higher flawed results, added with non true rms meters even more skewed results.

Dd9515 king
Clamping is accurate with good meters. When you clamp you see what power your subwoofer is getting. On the dyno it only sees what your amp makes at that ohm load. The dyno is great to see what it makes at that load. A subwoofer is a reactive load it changes with the tuning box size pressure on both sides of the cone etc. A clamp test shows what your amp is making at that frec. to your subs. If you take the same amp on the same external power wired to the same 1 ohm nomial load on the same woofers in the same box in two different cars. You will come up with different clamp number because the changes you made.

A resistive load is the hardest on an amplifier. An inductive load (speaker) will have higher impedances throughout its frequency spectrum and therefore be a lighter load. Dd9515 king
I was meaning if you played a sine wave at like 45 hz. If you burp amp it will be different. If you take steve test bench for example. Have everything hooked to the bench nothing to the car. Take the box from one car to the next playing the same 45 hz tune.
