STEvil
2 channel amplifiers see "half" the impedence when run in mono mode. 8 ohm mono is effectively 4 ohms. 4 ohm mono is effectively 2 ohms. 2 ohm mono is effectively 1 ohm. These are the wiring options for your single D4 sub: 4 ohm stereo: 100w+100w 8 ohm mono (amp sees as 4 ohms): 400w 2 ohm mono (amp sees as 1 ohm): not recommended MickyMcD - "Capable of making some serious trouser flapping volumes at where's-my-testicles frequencies, the Servo-Drives used to be fairly jaw dropping..." Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through. Hammerdown... 1% no links to outside websites, business related FB/YT pages allowed. MrSkippyJ
Shouldn't that be 8ohm mono 200watts? rockFord_Expedition
My sub is dual 4 ohm. Rated Power: 100W x 2 @ 4-Ohms RMS; 200W x 2 @ 2-Ohms RMS; 400W x 1 @ 4-Ohms bridged Wouldn't running it 8 ohm bridged be the same power as 4 ohm stereo which is 200W and is half the rated power that it would run at 4 ohm bridged? Now I don't feel so dumb. See post #3. Amp/Sub not a good match bud. Best way to do it is to run a coil per channel and call it a day until you can get a better match one way or the other. bcbrassard
OP,stop trying to get the most wattage out of the amp and try to get the best sound with what you have until you can upgrade.
STEvil
Shouldn't that be 8ohm mono 200watts? 100 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms (200 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms) 400 watts RMS x 1 bridged output at 4 ohms (4-ohm stable in bridged mode) MickyMcD - "Capable of making some serious trouser flapping volumes at where's-my-testicles frequencies, the Servo-Drives used to be fairly jaw dropping..." STEvil
No, unless they wrote the 4 ohm bridged output wrong and meant 2 ohm bridged (effective). kr15
8ohm will be 200x1, same as the 4ohm stereo channels summed. 4ohm will be 400x1, same as 2ohm stereo CHs summed. Since he has dvc4, he can wire 8ohm mono, 200w, or on 1 2ohm stereo CH, also 200w. Those are his options for not running under impedance.
