pioneerforlife
So within the next month I am going to be building a box for 2 12's. I have been planning it out and decided to paint it a gloss black with round over edges. so my question is, how can I get the paint to stay consistent over glue seams. I am going to use primer and plan on using rustoleum gloss black paint. In the past I have painted my boxes and the problem I would have it the past is that the paint would appear different on the areas where there was glue. I have used gorilla wood glue but plan on using titebond. thanks in advanced. 2007 Ford Focus SES Hatchback Pioneer HU 4 Digital Designs 9515i's in a B pillar. 2 Soundstream XXX 15K's (running at 16 volts) Soundstream Mids/Highs in custom door panels (getting rebuilt soon) Soundstream TA2.160 and TA2.400 Sky High and KNU wiring 3 Banks of Maxwell caps Winston Lithium (not a fan) Bump4Life 250 Amp Alt. aka USAlternators Soundstream Focus and Avenger Build Log Instagram @p4linnovation YouTube: Team Blowin Loud
Cox
From my experience it's the not glue you have to worry about, it's where you round over that's a bitch. thefourth
Sand the glue down the best you can and put a little bodyfiller over it and sand it smooth. Thanks alaskanzx5 I might just do thatI can recone a sub myself. About a year ago I took 2 12" power acoustic mofos and made one sub. I took the magnet and the motor off of one and j b welded it to the other motor and magnet. I had to wind my own voice coil so it would work. After I was done hooked up to 2 boss 5000w amps. And shattered my back and all my side windows came to this thread to recommend soundqubed and ct sounds. OP goes with soundstream. oh lawd. revoracing247
you can use body filler or just spend $20 on some homedepot fiberglass resign and resign the box. then sand that. it's what i did and it worked out pretty good.... revoracing247
i've also heard that priming it and then sanding it just a bit and then painting like normal from there works. but i haven't tried that method yet so i'm not endorsing it. tacomaguy1
What he said, like a sponge. With the glue it will soak in and seal that spot wherever it is. So around it will soak in, the glue spot wont making it look off. Whipe off all excess glue while its still fresh helps Team Flex Issues
