soundstream15 Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 So when I replaced my amp, I bought a pure audio 3k and no this amp is not shit. Better then my AQ2200 to be honest. But besides the point. The same day the amp came in, all I did was switch amps. Now the speaker wire from box to amp was to short to reach the pure amp since it's longer. So I took butt connectors and added wire so it would reach. So installed the amp and my issue is, when I'm full tilt it's actually fine, but when I start to turn it down it cuts out for like a quick 1 cycle. Pretty much like a thump. I don't think it's a short bc it would cut out for a few sec and that. It doesn't do it all the time as well. When I play trash addict by phsyh Morrison, every time that bass hits it would cut out, so I went into my trunk and I noticed the rca is a little loose so took it off and plugged it back in, played same song but at idle and it was fine. The rcas do wiggle a lot so I think that may be my issue? Figured I would ask you guys so I can gets correct answer. So either that speaker wire with butt connectors or rcas. What ya think.
thefourth Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 RCA's i'll bet. Thanks alaskanzx5 I might just do thatI can recone a sub myself. About a year ago I took 2 12" power acoustic mofos and made one sub. I took the magnet and the motor off of one and j b welded it to the other motor and magnet. I had to wind my own voice coil so it would work. After I was done hooked up to 2 boss 5000w amps. And shattered my back and all my side windows came to this thread to recommend soundqubed and ct sounds. OP goes with soundstream. oh lawd.

mmets Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 No expert but would second the rca's. Had an issue like that with my 99 mustang system and once I replace my rca's it was fine. But that was what worked for me. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/177477-slowboring-07-trailblazer-build/Pioneer DEH-80PRSPRV 8MR400-NDY (eight) PRV TW350Ti (6)Sky High 1/0 OFC, 12 gauge and 8 gaugeTM Metalworkz battery terminals 120 sqft HushmatXS Power D3100 (6)Singer 350 Amp Alt Singer 320 (2)American Bass SQL3200 JL Audio JX360/4 Crossfire XS 8K (2) DC Audio XL 15s (6)

pioneerforlife Posted October 25, 2013 Report Posted October 25, 2013 If not the RCA's it could be a loose connection between the amp and the sub. Also what are you running the amp at resistance wise, your new amp may not be stable at what aht AQ was. I would also check your ground just incase it isn't tight enough. 2007 Ford Focus SES Hatchback Pioneer HU 4 Digital Designs 9515i's in a B pillar. 2 Soundstream XXX 15K's (running at 16 volts) Soundstream Mids/Highs in custom door panels (getting rebuilt soon) Soundstream TA2.160 and TA2.400 Sky High and KNU wiring 3 Banks of Maxwell caps Winston Lithium (not a fan) Bump4Life 250 Amp Alt. aka USAlternators Soundstream Focus and Avenger Build Log Instagram @p4linnovation YouTube: Team Blowin Loud
