Daniel Harbeson
This is my box design for my 8 x-12 build that will be powered by 4 Crescendo audio 3500's. Thinking Ill run 2ohm till there broken in some and loosen up. At which point I will drop them to .5 ohm and let them get down n dirty. Lemme know what you guys think of the box design. The subs will be pointing up and port will be towards the back. It is designed so Ill have 6-8 inches of space between the port and back wall of my expedition. And lets not let it steer off topic with shakes.... By the way, Just posting this so I can get more eyes on it to make sure I didn;t forget anything.I will be bracing the top too, I will do three sheets of birch then put bracing under it to hold it up in the parts of the middle. ToNasty
I would af a hair more port area and probably tune to about 30. I see no reason in tuning so low at 28 Quote ***Super Sellers List***http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/25829-super-sellers-buyers

bighossf150
Just by looking at the box you designed you arent ready for a build this big. Do 2 x 12's on 1 3500 for now and then step up to the 8 on the 4 3500's once you have a little more experience. FYI I have 8 12"s in my truck and I have a 4 layer front baffle and the rest of it is 2 layers, on top of that its braced with 3/4" threaded rod, 80' of angle iron and a ton of fiberglass..... Keith77
Instead of telling him not to do something why not give him advise on what to do??? He has the right idea just needs advise and that's why he posted this thread. Daniel you are on the right track just need to do some tweaking to you box like they said above with more port area, at least double baffle depending on your internal bracing. 1 Quote Thats cool. Im way too old to be upset by shit like that. Your name is winston. Your own parents hated you even before you were born. My penis is bigger than your penis I'm far from loud and my roof/headliner flaps around like Adam's ass on a windy day. I think it depends more on the structure of the vehicle. Its more so he doesnt blow up thousands of dollars worth of equipment, I dont want to see the guy get dissaponted and just quit audio altogether, with a build this big you will run into random issues you never thought of so its better to start off with a smaller build then work your way up to something like this. So you would trust 400lbs of subs on a double baffle? CleanSierra
You don't have enough port area for those subs, that's the first thing I would fix. Have you considered going with 4 15s for the fact that it will be simpler for building, cheaper, more straight forward? I realize 8 12s has a WOW factor, but how many big builds have you done so far? I'm not at ALL saying this negatively, but we all have a learning curve and have to kind of graduate to a build like the one you have planned. Like BigHoss said, you may have better luck saying off smaller. 4 15s would also require less amps, which in turn equals less wire, which means less aread to fail, or short, or blow a fuse. CleanSierra
That sub needs lots'o'port to be happy. I have a feeling many guys are going to be unhappy with the X because they've shortchanged it. The sub needs airspace and more port than many subs to be happy. You are putting it at a disadvantage if you are unwilling to give it the proper air and port area. This isn't just my opinion, this is psychics of how a driver performs and what a driver NEEDS to perform at its best. Quote Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
