Curious how they work with Batteries, as stated above. Can I still run my batteries?

I am in for the buy as well. Serious, I am down for buying some. As long as you help me with any questions I may have during install, lol.

EDIT: Somewhat ninaj'd ^^ lol

I ask about batteries because I would still like to have my batteries to have as much reserve and/or electrical as I can. Mine is straight daily

Running supercaps and batteries is COMPLETELY fine.

Caps only might be reasonable for a burp vehicle, but for daily use you definitely want batteries.

Caps are great for bursts of very quick current, but don't have much capacity.

Supercaps due have a LOT more capacity then regular caps, but you'd still want battery power as a backup.

Supercaps also have a bit of leakage current, especially with a balancing circuit so you'll want a battery backup in case the caps drain themselves.

you definetely want to run caps with batteries for daily application.

what wicks said was correct.

balancing circuits are nice but not extremely necessary since you will have betteries in your system so they will never fall below that resting voltage.

yea thoseare really really expensive lol. but may be safer. if you are crafty and can build well you can buy individual caps and be just as safe for way cheaper.

ill get a list going and make another thread for group buy this is just to inform people and get the word out about caps. ill ask mods if a group buy is ok.

The balancing circuit isn't really to protect your form going over that 16V system voltage.

Since there are many low voltage items in series, there is a possibility that one may fail which could cause another cap inline to take up the slack and go over its 2.7V rating.

Caps also don't have minimum voltage ratings (like batteries) either so you "could" run them at any voltage you wanted, just not over.

that is true. and yes to be clear you can run caps down to whatever voltage you would like.

it is BAD to put too much voltage to them!. yes i guess if one did go bad you would have an issue. balancing circuits i am still researching and the best approach at them.

Let me clarify my statement. THey arent necessary as long as all the caps are working!!

I've been testing and testing Supercaps all year and so far the best results are Batts+ Caps together.

Criteria for "Good" is avg. power over time, consistent power curve over time, reliability, charge efficiency, peak power, and duration of play.
