CleanSierra
Niche audio subs are the biggest turds I've ever seen. I ran a set of the components for shits and giggles and they were the worst. I've seen the subs as well and they are disgusting. Even that beefy big surround version they have looks awful and I doubt performs. As others have said cheap and quality to do go together American bass lower end is where I'd look. And Xmax has NOTHING to do with how much air a sub can move. I hate to say that so bluntly but in your hours of research, that should have been something you stumbled upon. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
CleanSierra
Xmax is literally the amount of linear distance that the coil windings are within the magnetic gap. Once the coil is no longer within the gap, the coil it's no longer under control from the magnet and movement becomes non linear. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you. exxxtrem
So when company make there subs they measure the amout of travel the subwoofer can travel correctly by xmax. The amount of travel the sub can do. Witch directly affects how much cone movement there will be, equaling how much air will be moved my the displacement of the woofer. Other factors come in as far as power handling, box size, bla bla bla. But hands down xmax matters! Look at the cheap ass subs and they will have 6mm travel. then look at sundown that have 12mm travel, twice the excursion. Thats why people started bashing kicker many years ago. Orion came out with high excursion woofers. I know because I replaced my kickers with orions, same wattage and oh my god. That was the start and the trend since has been greater x max. Every car video we look at on you tube.. what do we focus on... how far the sub moves is your air movement.
Hotdog
bottom line if you choose the hfx12d4 sub and set it up properly it will do just fine. I know this because I have actually used them and not from what I have heard. CleanSierra
Xmax does not equal air displaced. It is the linear distance that a coil is within the magnetic gap. Other factors depends on whether or not the sub will move air. Suspension stiffness, the enclosure, motor strength, etc Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you. TRON
Moving air is NOT all about xmax, there are tones of factors that dictate the performance of a subwoofer. If you're right, and Xmax is everyting, then I should be able to throw an Orion HCCA in a prefab off a Boss 5000 watt maxxxx in a civic and do hair tricks. I mean, I got lots of Xmax man. Sound is energy, and you need lots of it to make lots of air move. edit: needed some more X' on that Boss Avalanche Alpine Type S comps Alpine Type S 10'' Alpine MPR-F300 Alpine MRX-M50 Mechamn 270 XS Power d3400s
exxxtrem
Xmax and power handling go hand and hand. The higher the wattage the greater the xmax. Not talking about over rated numbers from boss but real numbers. Dnt know why your arguing. Would be like saying the magnet doesnt determine how much wattage a syb can handke.
