nCOMP1337
i love my singer alt as well. a friend of mine also has an ebay alt from db electronics, i think it equates to like a 190 amp alt or something close to that, its treated him alright for a few years, but he knows quality and he knows it doesnt do what its supposed to. he ran mechman previously, but when he switched vehicles he didnt have a big system so he went ahead and took the cheaper route. oldsoundguy
Singer can offer a 160 amp for my truck but if I want to go with more power I have to step up to a GM alt and would have to modify some stuff, Mechman has not responded and will not answer the phone, I got a reply back from DC and they said they had an 180 amp alt for my truck that's plug and play that will produce 130 at idle with out some small pulley. I think I will go with that. 80prs Arc Audio Xdi 1200.6 (using active crossovers) Freaking awesome amplifier Incriminator IA 10.1 Focal PS 130v 5.25 (doors) 4" Faital pro Neo (kick panels) 3" Faital pro Neo and focal tweets( dash) DC Audio level 3 12" custom box designed by joex built by me AGM front, XS 750SE batteries rear DC 180 alt 99 Toyota Tacoma extra cab http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179476-my-small-build-turned-into-the-ongoing-build/
Bari87
Well Mike said to me that the Plug and Play upgrade for me will be 160A - on clamp test (warm) the alt delivers 203A. So his values are always underrated. And the best i run stock pulley ;-) Im sure you will be happy with your choice / new 'quality' alt! SmallTruk
I personally like Mechman. Even though I've had issues with my alt twice, their customer service is the best I've ever come across. As far as calling them, try calling about an hour or two before they close. Bump4life
I retrofitted a singer 350 onto my ride, best purchase ever !! I personally wouldn't rebuild the stock one. The difference to get a large cas gm alt and make a few brackets is worth all the extra hassle and lows plenty of room to upgrade. But you can't go wrong with any of the company's listed. Also look into ohio generators. oldsoundguy
Ok so I ordered my new alt from DC power this morning. I called Mechman but they did not offer a alt for my 99 Toyota. So DC power will get my business. It should do just fine for what I am doing with my truck. Now I just have to wait which is the hardest thing to do. 80prs Arc Audio Xdi 1200.6 (using active crossovers) Freaking awesome amplifier Incriminator IA 10.1 Focal PS 130v 5.25 (doors) 4" Faital pro Neo (kick panels) 3" Faital pro Neo and focal tweets( dash) DC Audio level 3 12" custom box designed by joex built by me AGM front, XS 750SE batteries rear DC 180 alt 99 Toyota Tacoma extra cab http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179476-my-small-build-turned-into-the-ongoing-build/
bcbrassard
Right on mam! Mike Singer is making mine as we speak at the best price i could find. DC had crazy prices for direct replacement and Mechman didnt have anything. A HO alt should make a big difference, Singer say mine should be good up to 3K. Headroom is always good. Good luck with your new one... shouldnt be the nightmare your last one was.
oldsoundguy
So just went to autozone and picked up a new Battery. I got the duralast platinum AGM battery. It was 146.00 and I was able to get another 10% off just by asking. Not a bad deal IMO and the truck already seems to run better , but that might just be in my mind lol. 80prs Arc Audio Xdi 1200.6 (using active crossovers) Freaking awesome amplifier Incriminator IA 10.1 Focal PS 130v 5.25 (doors) 4" Faital pro Neo (kick panels) 3" Faital pro Neo and focal tweets( dash) DC Audio level 3 12" custom box designed by joex built by me AGM front, XS 750SE batteries rear DC 180 alt 99 Toyota Tacoma extra cab http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179476-my-small-build-turned-into-the-ongoing-build/
