ALTERNATOR OR BATTERY?

Best to not mix different types of batteries, like the optima dry cell with an AGM. You can mix wet cells and agm, but dry cell batteries are best left to an all dry cell battery bank.

Optima battery's are agm.

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

↑ WHat he said. There is no difference between an Optima AGM and a typical AGM. Except that the latter tend to last longer and perform better.

Oh and... electrons can't read the words "car audio" on the outside of a $450.00 battery case. ;-)

i understand but i need to switch out one of these batteries asap cause one is a regular wet cell connected in parrallel with the optima right? so i might as well switch out both for the xs power right?

I wouldn't buy a car audio battery but you can do what you like. As for mixing wet and AGM batteries, the only problem is that the wet cell rests at a slightly lower voltage than AGMs and because of that, it will draw the AGM down to it's resting voltage as it sits.

And just to save you some typing... you should always connect your car batteries in parallel. As was mentioned above, series connection of batteries will make the voltage too high for your car so there is no need to mention that you're connecting them in parallel. It just goes without saying. ;-)

alt first. if out of price range then obviously battery and keep stiock on in. youd be fine hooking up the optima and xs power up in parallel as long as the car is a daily driver and it doesnt sit off for more than 3-4 days

I'd get a good alt from DC power or Mechman. Get the biggest one you can and that's all you should need. IMO it should have enough power output that you wouldn't need another battery

Op go with drifter's opinion! I did and got a mechman 270 best choice I made! That second battery on a stock alt will just add more stress to your stock alt. But like alot of people here will tell you stick with mechman, dc for alts maybe even tinney I believe if I didnt butcher that name, good luck either way!

S battery stores power an alt makes power, storage helps with the car off while am alt helps with the car on.

IMO get the alt, you have to have power to store power. Having a good battery will help but once it's dead your alt is working hard to charge batteries and power your stereo/car. Having an alt that will power everything is a good start.

You still need batteries that can handle that kind of stress though. Save money and get a nice agm stock battery. If theamp stats above 13v with that your set (another battery wouldn't hurt though). If your still drooping below 13v get another battery.

Don't forget the big 3, in 0 gauge. Ground either the alt case or a close to alt block ground to the frame. The alt case with the car running is the ground for the whole cars electrical.

singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.
