Opinions/Advice Wanted 12's to 18"

Everyone wants to run 4th order bandpass boxes. I don't understand why. All those powerful subs don't even like to play in sealed chambers, but people keep building those boxes.
I need to isten to some good ones. Maybe they're fantastic !!!

OP, I would get better subs, before swaping amps. But the 2200 can be a good choice if the price is right

An 18" sub might not be the solution you're looking at. Take your time to shop.

If you do go with a hdc 3 18 you can not do a 4th order you need to do a 6th order. Soundqubed subs are not meant to be in a sealed box and will ware out the suspension really fast in a 4th (all from soundqubed)

THE EBP tells me, at 62, that the 18" HDC3 CAN be run in a bandpass 4th order. The suspension is stiff, but a properly designed box CAN make them perform perfectly fine in a 4th order bandpass enclosure.

But why would he want to use a 4th order band pass instead of a regular ported box?

I wasnt stating advantages/disadvantages, only that being limited to a 4th order(non bandpass) bass reflex box is not entirely true. The sub CAN go in a 4th order bandpass per EBP. The smaller HDC4s like the 10" and 12" have that preference for only vented alignment.

I wouldn't personally run such a stiff suspensioned sub in a bandpass but it's not unthinkable. That's in response to Kirill

The question wasn't only pointed at you, but at the other people who are like: "4th order bandpass FTW" or "3:1 Ratio bandpass" as they don't even know in which cases you should use a bandpass box in a car audio environment. ( There are very little uses by the way..)

4th order bandpass boxes just look mean, I think most just simply prefer them because of the way they look.

Okay talked to my friend he wants $300 for the 2200, I can probably talk him down from there. But I feel sorry for the guy he had a X 12" but wanted something different so he bout a death penalty 12" before he could install it he dropped the box from about a 1/2 foot off the ground and the magnet snapped off from the basket oh and I wanted to try the 4th because the 18" HDC 3.0 is rated at 31hz and from what I've tested on my 12's they can play pretty high, that was why I was wanting to go that route.

hdc3 will laugh at a 1200 so don't try using it haha. just saying. it'll be happy with a 2200. hdc3s can play pretty low regardless of their required "high" box tuning

Yea I know it will, my friend has the 1200 before the 2200 and his x 12 didn't do anything.

If he really dropped it from only half a foot with the subwoofer bolted down in the box, I would ask Incriminator Audio for warrenty because that's not really abuse of the product.

It should be able to handle such a tiny drop, especially since fedex,UPS throw boxes around.

I don't understand what you mean by the red part.

So if I understand correctly, you think the subwoofer works down to 31Hz and since you know the 12's can play up high you think a bandpass box would fit you goals?
