KickersintheTrunk
I have two four ohm Kicker CompVR 12's Dual Voice Coils. Also have a Pioneer Gm- D8601 monoblock amp. I looked at the wiring diagrams on the Kicker website and noticed that there is two ways to get them wired to 4 ohms. One way being series and the other parallel. Will there be any difference? Whats the optimal way to wire them? KickersintheTrunk
Anyone? I noticed that even though both subs come out to a total of 4 ohms one option has 8+8 to get 4 and the other has 2+2 to get 4 Check out my Youtube channel www.youtube.com/user/ologiic
truthsayer
why would you want to wire them down to 4ohm? Wire them in parallel to that amp for a 1 ohm load. Will match up nicely. Edit: if you wire to 4ohm you really wont have enough power to push them subs properly. truthsayer

The amp at one ohm supposedly does 800 watts, and the subs are rated for 400 each. Or will wiring them to one ohm make each one see 400 watts? Sorry if that's a dumb question haha Check out my Youtube channel www.youtube.com/user/ologiic
S15_Silvia
I could give you the long electrical engineering talk, but to put things simply: Impedances in series will add up. Ztotal = Z1+Z2 Impedances in parallel are a little different. Ztotal = (Z1*Z2)/(Z1+Z2) 2016 Subaru BRZ | Sony XAV-AX100 | Rockford Fosgate DSM 4080 & DSM 40ix | On 6/6/2012 at 6:32 PM, 'LZTYBRN' said: 3. Broke_Audio_Addict
The wattage will be split equally between the two subs. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals. KickersintheTrunk
Alright thanks everyone. One last question. I run a wire from the terminals that aren't being used to each other? KickersintheTrunk
Alright so I got it all wired exactly like the diagram, and I go put them back in my car and now there is a constant beep noise. I have never had the noise there before. The only thing I changed was the wiring, and upgraded from 12 gauge THHN wire to 12 gauge SHCA OFC. I know constant noise can be from RCA's but why would it do it now? Check out my Youtube channel www.youtube.com/user/ologiic
