Rck'nRF Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 If two identical subwoofer brands of 12's or one 15" sub were to be thrown into the box (that each were designed for), Which will actually pound better as a bass system for say a trance/dance type set up with a RF mono amp pushing 700watts RMS? Thx,this question's been on my mind for a few weeks now!
Krakin Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 No way to tell without building it all and measuring it all. Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.
zayres29 Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 ibl Btw that was the first person. Ever banned by me while dropping a deuce. Feel privileged

JesseyMclame Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 build a 15 box, put the 15 in it, cut holes for the 12s in the 15 box, put the 12s in the 15 box, and the 12s will act as inter dimensional ports and you'll hit 196 all day long. Current setup in my 96 Hoe Hu - Pioneer DEH-80prs. Amps - (4) Crossfire C5 1700D's, MTX Thunder 5604(mids), PPI Art 300.2 (tweets) Batts - 4 91ah rear batts, 50ah batt up front. john253a Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 If both subs are the same mdl It will come down power v's cone area If they are all 1000rms subs idd go with a single on 700 If they are 600rms Idd probley still go the single if they are a know brand to take ratted+ But if not 2x12 As long as they are both in to spec enclosers of the same type
john253a Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 But for the best set up for you As we all know 2 cost more then 1 so you can get a better higher end sub if one Is to draw up what you have available And pick bassed on Design alone $$$ of what you have to spend Then tween the box to suit you new sub or subs
Rck'nRF Posted February 24, 2014 Author Report Posted February 24, 2014 Thanks for the mature responses john253a and alaskan2x5 !! I was not trying in the least to ask dumb "V.S." questions for this thread, really wanted to know if using just one dedicated sub with a mono amp would in the real world push more air than two 12's being just one unit instead of 2 separate units/speakers.
