Nightshade Posted March 10, 2014 Report Posted March 10, 2014 I suggest a smaller subwoofer/s, either a 15" or two 12" ones. With a height of only 19", minus 1.5" for 3/4" wood on both top and bottom, you're only left with 17.5"H to really work with. The cutout for the sub isn't 18" though. The cutout for the sub is 16.69" so with 17.5" to work with he will be fine. 2013 VW Jetta GLI 2.0 Turbo 1 Sundown Audio SCV2000 1 Sundown Audio X15 V2 1 XS Power D3100 Audio Control LC6i Stock Deck 146.4 sealed on the dash at 37hz 2001 Focus ZX3: RETIRED Team Sundown Audio, Team XS Power, 2 time NSPL Car 3601-Up Champion, 2 time NSPL Car Hardcore ChampionHighest NSPL Scores to date:154.3db on the dash sealed at 46hz, 156.2db in the kick at 46hz155.2db unofficial on dash at 43hz
bassman619 Posted March 10, 2014 Author Report Posted March 10, 2014 Yea cutout is about 16.5 and gasket diameter is 18.5...ive used sub calculators and I keep getting different answers..138" of port and 2.4 ft^ of port displacement 17.5h x7.75 w and another is telling me 100.3" of port ..17.5 x 5.75 and 1.6ft ^ port displacement You need trunk space to get groceries and shit...bitches love groceries
Aj11 Posted March 10, 2014 Report Posted March 10, 2014 if you Can get 10 cubes you should do 2 15s.. in a walled box in a Lil Car you'll hair trick. unless I'm reading something wrong. jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)
n8ball2013 Posted March 10, 2014 Report Posted March 10, 2014 If it's in the trunk it's not a wall. IIt'saalsovery ttough to do a single 18 or dual 15s in the trunk. But then id have to do two sa15s..to be able to push it without gettin a new amp..I dont want to upgrade power because id have to probably do an extra battery and a new alternator ..mine is only 220a peak You need trunk space to get groceries and shit...bitches love groceries
Ahmed Johnson Posted March 10, 2014 Report Posted March 10, 2014 Your alternator is 220a? You wouldn't need a new one if this is true. What exactly do you mean by peak?
bassman619 Posted March 10, 2014 Author Report Posted March 10, 2014 At or above 1500rpms does 220a of current..if I did 3000watts rms to do two sundown x12s plus whatever id run for the highs im sure id have to upgrade batteries and alternator right? I got an optima (shhh dnt laugh) works better than wet cell. I wanted to murder lows so thats why im doing the x18 more cone area than 2 12s and more cone than the 15 I had before. Listen im worried about the port.. the calculator is telling me I need 134" of port ..this would make the port over 7 inches wide.. is that okay..? I thought 5.75 w ×17.5h would be fine thats 1.6ft ^ of port displacement leaving 6.8ft^ of airspace before driver displacement You need trunk space to get groceries and shit...bitches love groceries
Aj11 Posted March 10, 2014 Report Posted March 10, 2014 so is or not a wall? i thought i read wall. could be wrong. 220amp can push a lot of power jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)
_paralyzed_ Posted March 10, 2014 Report Posted March 10, 2014 Does it hairtricks? I learned on the Steve Meade Designs forums that audio systems are only good if they hairtricks.
slowfkncar Posted March 10, 2014 Report Posted March 10, 2014 Yes it is possible with an 18 and probably atleast 3k rms. You cant just throw a box in and expect hair tricks though. Alot of times cabin modifications have to be made to hold pressure and minimize flex.
