AASMDBASS Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 Hello, I have questions regarding the voltage in my vehicle... I have a : 2014 Ford explorer 270XP Alternator (nations starter and alternator) who deals with DC power Big 3 1 18" Ascendant Audio SMD Audioque 3500.1D XS Power D3100 secondary battery Rockford 400 watt 4 channel Stinger voltage meter My question is this... Why is my voltage registering at roughly 13.2-13.6 volts at 1500-2000 rpm... And right around the same (maybe a little less at idle)... I would THINK I have everything I need to get a sufficient 14.4 volts... No? Thank you very much Pioneer DEH 80PRS HU Ascendant Audio SMD 18" Audioque 3500.1D XS Power D3100 Rockford T1 components Rockford P400X4
hdorre Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 What's ur starting voltage? If it's above 14.2, then wow.. Did u check ur grounds? Also, what's the AQ wired to? .5 or 1 ohm. If it's 1/2, then I understand. wccfan12 Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 Do you just have one XS power 3100 as the second battery and that's it? What about your under the hood batt? I would want at least 2 d3100's for the AQ 3500.1 That amp is 4300 rms if you're talking about the one with the dual inputs. I'm running the setup in my sig and I have similar battery power to you and I drop to about 13.2 full tilt at 0.5 ohm on my DC 3.5k. I charge around 14.2. alaskanzx5 Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 Ford like to charge low when hot. My focus like to sit around 13.8 hot. Try turning on AC, your heater, lights, ect ect. The compete should recognize the increase power draw from that stuff and increase voltage. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.
hdorre Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 Oh, wow.. I misunderstood the question. I thought you were talking about your voltage DROPPING to 13.x when revved up and playing full tilt. My bad But yes.. I agree.. some of the newer fords have odd voltage regulation. alaskanzx5 Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 External is the best way to get past it. You can end up with a battery light and possibly a check engine light from it but I doubt the check engine light. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.

The only thing is that the alt would have to get sent back to DC Power for them to open up the case and rewire it.. Unless you're handy in that sense.
