Chevelle "Rust-City B***h" Full Floorpan Replacement rebuild-log: "How-to" and Advice/Questions too

Recommended Posts

Ok, it's been needing this for a while now. Got the full 1-piece floor w/ crossbraces and inner rockers from JEGS ($570 shipped to my door, even with truck freight)

This is like a build-log sort of in-case anyone is interested or looking for help themselves. I will always have questions myself hopefully somebody might be able to answer. I know this isn't the chevelle forums, but there's still some knowledgeable guys here. I'm also going to video it since that's really what I wished had been out there, without cutting all the steps out though.

Started pulling up the carpets today, here's what it looks like ATM:

Fucking love Alan you goddamned fucking super nerd lol

When Alan uses big words I don't understand

It's warming up enough that the donut-punching cyclist douchenozzles are getting their two wheeled fagmobiles out.

Everytime I see a guy driving a mini cooper I cant help but think he loves cock & (2/29/16)-My wife just bitched at me about throwing out things we don't really use. My response of well we don't really use your vagina so should we throw that out was evidently not the right response. I had to leave the room.

I missed Alan.

RIP 5/29/15 - I love you son.

Salvaged most of the carpet :)

Won't be reusing that carpet though, but I checked online and a new set is like $170 so I might try to sell it for like $30 at the pomona swap, it's 98% complete, just one corner is cut and a small bit of insulation had to be tossed because it was rotted and molded.

Bout the same thing I'm doing with my 49 Ford. Carefully cut out all of the bad and replace with new.

I'm basically using a die grinder with a cutting wheel for the most part.

Smart to label bolts. Wish I would have done that for a lot of my projects.

Thankfully I've given myself lots of room for error, no careful cutting needed in the floor since it's a 1-piece pan w/ inner rockers and crossbraces :)

At least not until I get to the edges that is lol. I'm not looking forward to all the drilling I'm going to have to do on the old spot welds to get the rockers apart.

And at this point I have no clue is the current outer rockers are going to be good enough to use. So fingers crossed on that lol.

I grabbed a ryobi with a 4" cutoff wheel. I don't have any air to use, so this project will definitely be fun with no air tool power :D If it gets too bad I'll have to go to my bosses house and use his.

Lol yeah, since they've spent 40 years corroding and twisting and morphing independently to the frame and stuff, you gotta keep the same ones for the same holes while you plan to keep using them lol.
