JEFFYBOI
At what voltage should I be worried? Was listening to some tech nine and today my Stinger volt meter dropped down to about 12.8 being the lowest. Typically it sits about 14.2-14.5V at Idle on start up. It is wired to the amp, so this is the voltage my amp is seeing BTW. Im just worried im getting to low. opinions? SnowDrifter
12.8 ain't nothing to worry about. I typically don't even worry until low 11s. ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
pioneerforlife
12.8 isn't to bad. As long as its above 12 you are good to go. ideally I would wanna stay above 12.6 so 12.8 is ok. 2007 Ford Focus SES Hatchback Pioneer HU 4 Digital Designs 9515i's in a B pillar. 2 Soundstream XXX 15K's (running at 16 volts) Soundstream Mids/Highs in custom door panels (getting rebuilt soon) Soundstream TA2.160 and TA2.400 Sky High and KNU wiring 3 Banks of Maxwell caps Winston Lithium (not a fan) Bump4Life 250 Amp Alt. aka USAlternators Soundstream Focus and Avenger Build Log Instagram @p4linnovation YouTube: Team Blowin Loud
rockFord_Expedition
12.8 is fine for short bursts. Check it with a DMM to be sure though. Old School/New School RF Build March 2015 SOTM Winner How to crimp large wire
SnowDrifter
If you have any question about voltage drop, consult the manual for the voltage range of your product. Don't stray outside of that range -- high or low and IMO you shouldn't need to worry about it ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
P4killer_
Youll get alot of dif answers here.. First you should check to make sure the volt Meter is reading right with a dmm. After that. Personally below 12v or so on music is sketchy for long periods ie. Longer than 15 20 sec. 12.8 is right around battery resting which means your maxxing out the alt and starting to dip into battery reserve.. which is fine. Some ppl will say buy 10000 more bats and 5 alts below 14v is crazy. Others will say as long as it doesnt go into protect idc.. Etc. matt14
I had a stinger meter in my yukon. Was dead on with my DVOM. Played full tilt and was .3v off. When I wired to .35ohms and full tilt, 3.0v off. 2006 GMC YukonPioneer HU SHCA ran throughout Crescendo BC3500 One 18 AA Mayhem in a 4th order ZED Levithian 6 channel Rainbow Dual 6.5 comps ran Activehttp://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/155628-matt14s-yukon-mayhem-in-a-4th-ordernew-amps-and-bats/page-

hdorre
I don't like to go below 12.8 (batts rest at 12.78).. and refuse to for my alt and batts' sake. Is it necessarily "bad" to? Depends on how you look at it. Your drop isn't horrible, but Id personally want much less.
