str86diesel
There definately is more to an auto when on the track than just hammering the throttle. Being able to control the power especially when launching is key. The hard part with an auto is being able to maintain a good balance between putting as much power to the ground and preventing tire slip during the launch. Once you get off of the line, yeah an auto is brainless. Let me make one very bold comment in regards to some other posts that I see. Whatever you do....do not waste your money on a shift kit. Shift kits are the biggest piece of junk that should be taken off the market and anyone that has any knowledge behind what they are and how they work would agree. I can get more reliability and more power from turning up my line pressures than adding a shift kit and when the shift kit fails...you just costed yourself more money in repairs cause the shift kit makes the valve body unable to be rebuilt. If you are going to go with an auto..BUILD IT RIGHT!! Shift kits are cheap bandaids for people who don't want to spend the money to address the real problem. Putting 300+ hp behind a tranny that was designed for 150 is a major problem and a shift kit is not the answer.
