We get Bells now, actually.  Some producers are paying their way in now that Houston and Austin are major beer markets.

But each brewery has to pay Texas Alcohol & Beverage Commission $7000 for each 2 years of having their beer in this state.  So many breweries dont care to penetrate our market since it costs a lot.  TABC literally approves every single individual beer label that comes into the state for approval due to weird antiquated laws we have that were lobbied by AB and Bud back in the day. 

For instance, if you toasted your grain at a local restaurant/smokehouse, you cant have the restaurant on your label since you cant advertise food via an alcoholic label.  Stupid laws like that.

Anyway, enjoy the selection you have in NY!  I went to World of Beer in Long Island a few years ago (since closed) and nearly shat myself at the options you guys have up there.  I brought like 12 bombers home in my checked luggage.

Going to Seattle for work in a couple weeks, i’ll see if i can scoop up that oberon. We have Live Oak Hefeweizen here, one of my fave wheat beers. The esters from the yeast let off strong banana flavors with hints of pink bubble gum. Just a funky fuckin yeast strain. Maybe ill bring some to slam for you northerners to try out.
