I have a song from 1995 with intense lyrics and an actual "song" then we have a " song" from 2013 with what comes down to one phrase repeated over and over . I know times have changed but I'm sure the song with the least talent is getting paid way more than the other. Most new stuff isn't so great. Hip hop at least, has gone way downhill. Used to be more about the lyrics and what you can do rhyming with your words. Now, it's about what the synthesized tones sound like. Lyrics are just filler. Opposite of what it was, and IMO, what it should be. "Clipping" is the biggest forum boner now. It's like witchcraft... it automatically explains just about everything people don't understand. I keep waiting for the rapper to start but it never happens . If you don't like that style of rap (bangers, hype tracks) then don't. There are plenty of other artists that still rap about relevant social issues, you just have to look for them harder because they don't get played on the radio as much.
