Question about SPL sub sound

Recommended Posts

I have two HDC 3 12s running off a 2200 amp. I can get the subs to play real loud. I mean so loud that I get a ton of body panel resonance sound along with vibration sounds. I have one layer of deadener on the roof, floors and doors and MLV on the floor also. Do all of you guys hear the same thing when you have it up full tilt? To make my system sound good I need to turn the gain knob down or it doesn't really sound that great for daily listening.

Maybe I need more deadener on the roof and interior panels IDK...

I guess I need to get some demos from guys in my area so I can compare.

Kind of want both were I can turn it up loud and feel the bass slamming but not hear all the affects of it that it has on my car..

If you can still here the rattle you ain't loud enough. lol jk. Probably need more layers of deadener. The setup in my friends ranger rattles everything on it and even moves the doors in and out abit, but when you in it all you hear is the back window.

Does he have a solid rear window or a slider? I have a slider in my Toyota Tacoma and it makes a lot of noise. I want to get a solid rear window for it.

Go down to Home Depot and buy a couple cases of ALEX Plus acrylic caulking and start adding that by the tube behind every panel. There's a guy up my way that runs 20KW+ and does mid 150's that used this method and his panels are dead quiet.

He's got a slider. His truck is the 1st time I've seen a bed flex, granted its right at the window, but still.

@ Ahmed Johnson That's funny. Its all good man

To tell you the truth I don't have any idea what the fuck I was thinking. lol

I know I wanted loud clean bass but really never expected this much flex and noise from my truck.

Don't get me wrong my system (to me) is bad ass and I have never had anything even close to this in a vehicle before. I will deal with it one step at a time.

I just ordered another 40 ft of deadener to do the roof and rear panels so I will have a couple of layers on there. I found a solid rear window at a wrecking yard and I will pick that up tomorrow and order a new gasket. That should help. Then just go step by step to eliminate as much of it as I can.

I guess I just need to keep the gain knob down when daily and then crank it up when I go to a comp to see what it will do.

I just wanted to know if anyone else has the same problem.

Oh and no I am not clipping...
