Guest Posted May 30, 2014 Report Posted May 30, 2014 Lpf is set to 80 and sub sonic 25 - 28 put ssf higher. like 35hz
Pork chop Posted May 30, 2014 Author Report Posted May 30, 2014 I think it only goes to 30. the wife's got the car right now I'll check it out when she gets back
mothra Posted May 30, 2014 Report Posted May 30, 2014 prefabs suck so the output will not be great. prefabs are tuned high at like 40hz so its good for high bass shit like lil wayne a milli. anything lower than that and you're unloading the woofer and stressing the shit out of it. no way to tune gains properly (unless you are very knowledgeable) without an oscilloscope or dd-1. you dont change the gains when wiring from 4 to 2 to 1 ohm. the output is actually really good it's the frequency response range that sucks. the higher a ported enclosure is tuned the higher the db gain. the output on a sub in a "pre-fab" ported enclosure tuned to say 45hz will have a higher output at tuning frequency than that same sub in a "custom" enclosure tuned to 30hz. the difference is the frequency range that each enclosure will be able to play. if you were right than all spl competitors would tune to 20hz, a lot of those guys tune between 50-60hz. if nothing changes, nothing changes You don't know what you don't know, till you don't know

Your about to be pimp slapped check Krannys pic, yes we all know tune high spl, your shitty ass prefab could never drop into the low30s and 20s with command.``Your still a bass virgin.. How do I konw you like boxes tuned to 45.
Ahmed Johnson Posted May 30, 2014 Report Posted May 30, 2014 Get those subs out of that box and into a custom one. They will sound as loud as your bass boosted subs in that prefab and they will sound better without even using bass boost.
hispls Posted May 30, 2014 Report Posted May 30, 2014 Just turn it down when they get smelly. If you're burning coils, you are heating the coils beyond their ability to cool. If your nose works you shouldn't need to dump 200$ on a lightbulb to tell you when to back off.

Pork chop Posted May 30, 2014 Author Report Posted May 30, 2014 That's the same prefab box that I have, I'm wanting to do some sort of vented enclosure through the arm rest. Subs in the trunk don't seem to sound that great based on my experience. I'm much happier with the 12 pioneer in the t-line in my rav4. Any suggestion on what sort of enclosure would perform best vented through the arm rest into the cabin? I was thinking about a fourth order I'm trying to wrap my brain around the math

I was thinking about a fourth order I'm trying to wrap my brain around the math Not in theory but scientifically, firing into the cabin with the trunk PROPERLY sealed off is louder. it wont have that trunk efficiency gain that people use for 50hz burps ect,but it will sound cleaner and most definitely get down on the subsonic frequencys 30hz in a cabin is usually louder then 30hz in a trunk. A 4th order blowthrough or a standard low tuned ported is probably what you are looking for if you like sound quality.
