mbdblue Posted November 29, 2014 Author Report Posted November 29, 2014 Dude... that sucks. Sorry to hear that. My fear of wrapping as well. I can carpet a box, and i know i can paint panels but have yet to try wrapping. Better luck next round huh. Damn dude that's shitty. I wish I could help you wrap those things but I can't even wrap a Christmas gift. So what's the plan now? that's pretty much how I felt too....It didn't go so bad; but I would get one little bubble or wrinkle right in the middle so I'd have to pull back on it, then the glue would release and not stick back down. It was really finicky. I actually got halfway down the panel (including the speaker mount) and it looked pretty good but as soon as I tried to get the wrinkles out, it would progressively not stick down. I called up an upholstery shop in Lowell. He said black vinyl is cheap and the whole thing shouldn't be expensive; but he has to see the panels first. If it's a reasonable price, I think I'm just gonna have him do it. I'd like to wrap them myself, but I'm thinking this glue is just meant to be sprayed. Honestly, I'd love to try it again....But I learned the hard way that this glue SUCKS to get off the panel. Made me glad I only tried to wrap one...Took about an hour and a half with some brake parts cleaner and all that does is gum it up. I feel like if they were less extreme curves, and I used the regular Weldwood Contact, I think I would have been able to do it. I'm gonna be keeping the rest of the vinyl to cover the amprack....which should come out fine since I don't plan on having any super curves in it. I appreciate your guys' support. I hate getting to a stand still and trying to figure out where to go from here. But this weekend I'll probably be mounting the amprack and running the speaker wires through the doors. I ended up ordering 2 Reikken batteries the same size as the XS Power ones cuz they were on sale (2 little AGMs for 110 bucks? I think so...) mbdblue Posted January 19, 2015 Author Report Posted January 19, 2015 It seems as though the prelude's days are now numbered. It's getting expensive to fix and I can't catch up. I kind of started off on the wrong foot, (mostly from taking perfectly good parts off the car and never finishing them). I decided I wanted to get the car 100% mechanically, but it looks like it just won't happen. For now, I'm selling off some parts I have laying around that the car doesn't necessarily need; and I've started looking for something else. Kinda feels like I tried this too early in life....if I had a daily and had this as a project car, it probably wouldn't work out either since I don't make enough cash to fund both. Maybe in the future when I'm a little better established.
