Weigel21 Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 Honestly, I feel that for what they cost, Hifonics and Soundstream tend to be reasonable budget minded amplifiers. Are they the best? Hell no. But at their price point, you'll never find an amplifier that's going to be all that great. Still, if you need an amplifier than can produce 1500RMS, maybe more, of clean power at 1 ohm , then the Hifonics should meet your needs. Their older Brutus line actually had a pretty decent reputation and a fairly strong following, not that it means it's greatest amp in the world or anything, but for a new amplifier at such a price point, I don't believe they could be beat. Would a used model from a more reputable company at a similar cost be a better choice? Most likely. However, it doesn't matter if it's an Audison amplifier or a Boss Audio amplifier, if it does what you need it to do and are content with it's performance (or lack thereof) for the price you paid, who has the right to shove their opinion (no matter how well backed their argument may be) down your throat. They didn't spend their money on it and they're not the ones that will be listening to it. If you're happy with the purchase, that's what matters. There will always be better for a little more, but when one has a budget limit, that's it, there's no spending "a little more". I've been in the same boat, I'm sure many of us on here have, don't fret. Get what you can now and save for better, or just wait and save for better. As it stands, you ideally want an amplifier capable of producing a solid 2K of clean power at the impedance you'll be wiring the subs to present. However, you can get by with as little as 70% of their rated power and yield little to no audible difference in output from them.

I have no steady job as I am in the transition of moving from my home town to college and finding money for that above all toys, and I'll still never spend a cent on Hifonics, Boss, Belva, or any other rusted out cookie cutter board where the engineer just threw a piece of crap on a PCB and moved on. The term, "it's good for the money" should just be thrown in the trash. If it were good, then the price would reflect that. I'm not saying that there are not budget friendly amps, but "good for the money" is a justification for buying a piece of shit that has lights and chrome everywhere. Save for the amp you want, rather than waste $200-300 on a piece of shit, save another $100 and do it right the first time. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
hispls Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 What's seldom mentioned about these bottom tier amps is that they will often perform poorly, fail prematurely, and hold little or no resale value when and if you do decide you want to get something nice. Shopping for amps based on price:watt ratio as prime criteria can easily lead to disappointment. Do you even have enough battery to run 2K? If you must buy a shit tier amp do yourself a favor and make sure you buy from a legit company that'll back up a warranty.

Take a look at db-r.com for used and good amps. I'd rather run a good 1000 w amp, than a turd of a 2000w amp. black BMW X1 2.0 l 192 hp OEM head unit, Amplifiers : Audison AP 8.9 with integrated DSP and Ampere Audio 1200. Focal ES 100 K in front doors, and Dayton RS 180 for midbass under the front seats. 2 SSA DEMONS 10" subs, in a sealed box. SecondSkin Damplifier on front doors, and Luxury Liner Pro for the cargo area.

I still need to dd1 the amp tomorrow But for today its just under 1/2 gain. Played it for over 30 min full tilt and didnt get stinky and sub/ amp didnt even get warm.
