I'll be running at .7 once my SHD gets in. D1.4, so my original plan was to do comparisons between 2.8 ohms and see what it's like.

i have a feeling, .7 is gonna be PERFECT... :)

I'm hopin so. Was just gonna do 1 ohm but wanted to squeeze a little extra power out of this 5k. Plus, I'm more an SQL guy so I may end up wiring to 2.8 for most of the time anyway. Not sure yet, testing will reveal.

But for a lot of people, I think anything over 1 resistive is gonna be good enough. I may end up trying out a Brazilian just so I can get power at the higher load.

DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN..... after i just had made up my mind.. time to go back to the drawing board.. reading this opened my eyes mind and my damn wallet. thanks kylar96

he wouldnt be the first to say they did a 167 with a system like that (one that clearly DOESNT), but i have to say, he didnt beat me anywhere, ive never competed against the guy. If he thinks his does a 167, mine would probably put him in a coma. :hairtrick:

Yeah, I figured it was SPL oriented, seems majority of the members on here travel that route.

There are many amplifiers that can produce a good chunk of power at 2 ohms, though no single amplifier "I'm" aware of that can produce the 1000's of watts many on here are looking to get. Strapping two amplifiers together ran at 2 ohms could get a few thousand watts of clean power though.

Again, I don't see anyone who's in need of 3K+ to likely be in any interest of seeking SQ above all else. True SQ setups don't run multiple subs with 1000's or watts to them.

Now I'm sure many would claim they are seeking SQ, but in truth are actually seeking clarity in the output, which that can be achieved with the power levels many on here run, though I have much doubt that any real clarity can be retained when dropping below 1 ohm and "I" personally feel dropping below 2 ohms causes the clarity to noticeably suffer.

But it's Brazilian, so going poof on low electrical scares me. Once I get some caps though, this might be mine.
