PaperChaser Posted July 24, 2014 Report Posted July 24, 2014 I was at a local car show and there was a guy with a pick up truck there. he had 3 tv's running, 2 12's ,xbox showing his system but the engine wasn't running. it was turned down low not full blast but he ran it like that for maybe an hour or two without ever starting the truck from what i saw. What would i need to be able to do that? I have a 03 denali with a t1500 bdcp running at 1 ohm, i added a xs battery i think its a 680, its the small one, jvc detachable face 7", 2 7" headrest monitors and 2 sa d4 subs. I dont have a battery isolator setup. i bought a 50 farad capacitor to add more power for demos. i went to a local shop and told them what i wanted to do and the guy said it was silly to add a capacitor and that it would blow my alternator. He also said that a car radio isnt designed to work that way. In my mind im thinking a car isn't designed to do any of the stuff we do. i'm a noob with this stuff but my truck hits harder than anything i've seen come out of that shop lol. Need some advise guys, thank you.
Robert8252 Posted July 24, 2014 Report Posted July 24, 2014 Ditch the cap, add a XS 3100 or two. Just running the tvs and stereo at very low volume doesn't pull that many amps, just watch your voltage if it would dip into the low 12s I would start it up to charge. 2013 F150 Crew Cab Old Build Log Feedback 2013 F150 Equipment - Some Awesome Stereo Sound Making Stuff

PaperChaser Posted July 24, 2014 Author Report Posted July 24, 2014 Ok, thank you guys. I may look into just adding another battery. i think im gonna test my current set up first though. If i can go 45 mins to an hour i guess thats good enough. And i have a solar battery charger i got from autozone for 20 bucks i think. works really good. just hook it up and suction cup it to a window and let it charge. i have a volt metter and it seem my xs battery is never low so i guess my alt is keeping everything charged. Thinking i'll take the " if it ain't broke don't fix it" option. Thanks guys.
Guest Posted July 24, 2014 Report Posted July 24, 2014 playing with the car off is useless in my opinion.
PaperChaser Posted July 25, 2014 Author Report Posted July 25, 2014 It's just for showing the system basicly at car shows. Your not blasting the setup, just showing the setup while watching music videos. Showing the halo's and stuff. I have a bunch of stuff on my truck people in my area don't know anything about.
slowfkncar Posted July 25, 2014 Report Posted July 25, 2014 Your t1500 will draw more current then 3 TV's and an Xbox FYI.
