butric Posted July 28, 2014 Report Posted July 28, 2014 Hello, I am planning on starting a build in my 1992 Chevrolet K1500. It's not going to be a huge build, however, it will be a bit on the loud side. That aside, My issue is the stock radio mount is definitely too small to fit a single DIN radio. I don't actually think that the mount is really a standard size, just some bull crap hole cut out by the amazing engineers at GM.(Pics included) I need to be able to fit a new radio because the stock one just isn't cutting it. The front speakers don't work, some buttons don't work, and sometimes it shuts off. Plenty of issues. So, does anyone know of any build logs that go about fitting a radio like this? Or care to explain how to go about it? I am already thinking of possibly extending the dashboard to the right by a few inches by cutting out a frame, cloth wrapping it, body filling it etc. And that would be a lot more work than I would like since i would have to replace a lot of the other upholstery to match the new scheme. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it.
