jrath Posted August 11, 2014 Report Posted August 11, 2014 I am building a box with the goal being 2.5 cubes/sub after displacement. I will be using one 8 inch psychoport. The majority of this port will be outside the box. When I calculate my final port displacement do I have to take into account this area of port that is outside the box? Thanks in advance.
Robert8252 Posted August 11, 2014 Report Posted August 11, 2014 .Only on the inside of the box. Net is the area of space the subwoofer will build pressure in. This is only in the confines of the box itself, nothing on the outside that doesn't share this space gets accounted for. I'm guessing the port has a diameter of around 8.25 - 8.4 so total area is around 53.4 inches multiplied but the length of the port inside the box divided by 2013 F150 Crew Cab Old Build Log Feedback 2013 F150 Equipment - Some Awesome Stereo Sound Making Stuff

Should I go with a 9 inch psychoport instead? This would give me about 64 inches of port area. The subs are Sundown Zv4 12's on a DC 5K.
corona_jeff Posted August 12, 2014 Report Posted August 12, 2014 Of your using a aero style port I'd suggest 10-12 per cu
