Soccerballzs
Keep turning the gain and bass boost up until they blow. Once they blow, take note of where the gain and bass boost was at, than turn it back down a tad. Once the speakers blow, take them out of the enclosure and put them in your freezer for at least 2 hours, and the woofers will be good as new. The reason they blow is from excessive heat on the voice coil, putting them in the freeze will take care of the heat and make them stronger than they where new. Its a very similar process to hardening steel with getting it extremely hot, than rapidly cooling it off. The more times you repeat this process the stronger the steel and even your woofers will get! That is a old school trick!! http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/garage/vehicle/2438-jeep-commander/I Pioneer P99RSAmpere 38002-Ampere 125/44-6.5 inch Hertz HSK XL Mids4-8 inch JL Audio ZR Midwoofer 2-5.25 Satori Mids2-Morel Tweeters, 2 Hertz Milles 3 inch on A pillars2-Hertz Silk tweeters DC Audio Level 5/12 Skyhigh Wire Mechman 320 XS Power D3100MO Funniest Thread of the Year 2013: http://www.stevemead...dy-being-a-pos/

Just how much power components can handle without blowing up ??? Embarrassing actually ... A lot of guys just want it loud they could care less what it sounds like on top of that most are using low quality mp3's as their music source so it sounds bad to begin with. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals. I run almost no gain, higher ohm loads than most, amd has a shit ton of loudness. Just ask the local police ... csermonet47
I care about my sound quality, but my ear probably isn't as refined as yours. I don't appreciate you telling me that it's embarrassing that I am asking about how much power my speakers can handle, I just want to know what I can safely give them without blowing them from people with experience. You people here need to be more tolerable, not everyone on the forums is as dedicated of an SQ, SPL, whatever enthusiast as you are. I just want my stereo to sound better than what I had from the factory. Every fuckin thread I've started here has garnered hate in some form or another and it's getting to be ridiculous. You didn't even come in here with anything constructive to say, just to insult me and take a jab when you saw an opening.
Broke_Audio_Addict
I don't think he is trying to insult you, what he's trying to convey is that more power is not necessarily the best way to go. Music has dynamics, if your just running your tweets to the absolute max they can handle you're leaving no room for those dynamics you'll really be missing out is what he's saying. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals. aculous
Hooking it up to a wall socket usually makes it so you can tell how much power a set of Infinity Kappas can take. As others have said take a video because it doesn't count unless you document it.

The "embarrassing actually" part is what ticks me off. He could have told me what you just did, but instead just questioned my motives and told me I should be embarrassed for asking a question. I appreciate you not being rude and giving me a real conversation with useful information.

You didn't even come in here with anything constructive to say, just to insult me and take a jab when you saw an opening. Think of this forum as a locker room. Us rough alpha male types are going to give you shit. Give us shit back, we can take it. Some people give shit back, and then become welcomed to the club. Some people get all butthurt and say they are "offended". I put "offended" in quotes because it's a term for girls and I really don't understand the meaning of it. The "offended" people go away, and those that can hang with the bros make friends and really come to enjoy this site. Is it right? Is it the way a forum should be? Maybe not. It is the way it is though. Just give people shit back. They are giving you the answer you need if you read between the lines, and don't get butthurt. The answer is don't run most speakers over rated. Especially anything that isn't a subwoofer. Most not subwoofer speakers just don't have the thermal handling capability to do over rated. Get higher rated speakers if you want more. We cool?
