Syphlyn Posted October 27, 2014 Author Report Posted October 27, 2014 call a mechanic the dropping rpms on downshift does not seem right but i could be wrong,, Should have specifiedThe drop doesn't occur due to the downshift. Just when I'm braking to come to a stop the rpms go low around 600 and when it downshifts the rpms hit 500 or so and that's when the slight drop occurs. Could it just be due to the really low rpm of only 500 and the alt not producing much output at that speed ? Syphlyn Posted October 27, 2014 Author Report Posted October 27, 2014 Its probably the low idle even my 270a (5.4) drops quite a bit when I slow down. You have a ford 5.4? My h/o alt would drop to battery voltage when slowing down and I hit anywhere from 500-650 rpm which was terrible it would dim my lights and everything.. But at idle in park around 700-750 it would sit at 14-14.6 but if I used anything like my lights or heater it would drop pretty low. Pasta Prime Posted October 27, 2014 Report Posted October 27, 2014 Yeah I have the 5,4 in my Expedition. That is not normal though I did have that happen (not as extreme) one time and the battery posts that came with my kinetic were coming loose. Tightened everything back down and the problem went away. New build coming........ YouTube:http://www.youtube.c...6?feature=guide Old Build Log: http://www.stevemead...d-on-the-cheap/ Old Screen name: Redrebel66

I think with the stock alt as it doesn't drop below 13.5 it might just be the really low rpms it hits for a split second. Just started noticing it as I installed a volt meter.
