As some may know I work at Audio outlet in San Marcos Texas, and we have agreed on a price plan to turn my gf's truck into a great show vehicle in exchange for some advertisement at local shows. She has a 2001 dodge dakota quad cab. I'll upload some pics of it soon... They will include the super uber fail build in it now... And the super sexy build I'm doing in her truck. So we will start off with the limitations. 1) she didn't want any holes in her truck (no blowthrough) 2) didn't want to lose her back seat 3) wanted to have a very wide bandwidth 4) wanted to look as stock as possible So my equipment to be used is some of what we carry in the shop. I was asked to use equipment that they sell frequenty so it would be a more effective demo vehicle for the shop rather then tossing in the most expensive equipment they sell that most customers can't afford. I decided on... Kenwood 998x excelon (2) JL audio XD 600/1's (1) JL audio XD 400/4 (6) JL 6.5 w3 version 3's (1) pair of DD bc 6.5 comps All stinger OFC wire All stinger accessories a ton of OCD wiring And a super sexy center console build, 1:1.667 ratio 4th order tuned to 46hz The idea is a clean daily driver show vehicle, some plexi, some led's, lots of ODC wiring and a super sexy custom enclosure. I'm also shooting for a low 140 on the meter, but it needs to be able to play music for extended periods of time at moderate to high volume. Pics will come as I get attention on this build. Some attention was had.. and in return here are some pics Thats basically how I'm gonna run this whole build log. Enough replies and ill just buy all the equipment this week and knock it all out (except for the actual enclosure, that is gonna take at least a week or two by itself) Anyways. Here is the truck. Fresh tint on it. Carbon film, 35% on the front and rear (rear had factory colored glass so it looks dark) and 5% on the rear. Here is a pic we took on my birthday, we dont take much pictures... but ill tell you what. Im really glad i met her. She is just awesome. Here are the Bc 6.5 comps she is getting, the picture is from our display in the store. 30mm tweeter, awesome mid, and a Bi amp able crossover. Super sexy AND now... for some fail pics... This install was done before i met her, so ... lets just say I'm glad I'm getting her RIGHT! Check out this POS, its powering a kicker CVR 10 in a sealed box. Sony 4 channel. Here is what made me mad... My wonderful gf... is riding around in something that has butt connected power wire wrapped in electrical tape as their way of making a distribution block to power both amps....this is done both power and ground btw. Ground isn't sanded... But how much could you expect? I prefer my german AW 6.5 and AT 28 tweeter active much much more then this set. But she doesn't have a ear like mine... Nor do i wanna dump TOO much money into her build, thats why i worked out this deal with AO so i could afford to give her something nice. But this set gets loud and clear so it will be perfect for her.
