medwards420
does my amp have to "work harder" when using a sealed box vs ported? hope this makes sense
mrazandrewm
Don't know what amp you have. But in general, it shouldn't. If your amp pushes 500 watts rms, then it'll put out 500 watts rms regardless using sealed or ported. Does that make sense? rockFord_Expedition
Voltage, current, signal and impedance determine how hard your amp works. Keep the voltage up with sufficient current available and don't wire it too low. Your subs will perform different in one enclosure vs. another but your amp could care less. SIDE SHOW
some subs are more efficient in a ported box as opposed to a seal box, but your amp will still put the same power to the sub

mrazandrewm
How was I being sarcastic? I didn't know if you needed a different example to help explain it. Sorry if it sounded like I was being sarcastic. Was not my intention. BoomZoom808
Ported enclosures are more efficient. Less power for the same level of output. Does your amp work harder? No but you would have to increase power to match the output of a sealed enclosure to a more efficient ported design. 2010 Mazda 3s 2.5L Pioneer DEH-X9600BHS Knu OFC 1/0 SS Platinum AGM / XS Power XP750 Alpine PDX F-4 / Morel Maximo 5 + Coax 5 IA 10.1 / SSA XCON
STEvil
There is something to be said for "dampening factor" but to be short, no.. as long as you're not on the verge of clipping. MickyMcD - "Capable of making some serious trouser flapping volumes at where's-my-testicles frequencies, the Servo-Drives used to be fairly jaw dropping..." Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through. Hammerdown... 1% no links to outside websites, business related FB/YT pages allowed.
