m0rtin
i noticed my speaker wire from my amp to my sub enclosure gets hot on the positive wire on speaker terminals on the box. it causes my subs to go out n i would have to remove burned plastic coating n put the fresh wire into the terminal for the subs to work again. is there anything i can do to prevent it from getting so hot? SnowDrifter
Skip the terminal. Drill a hole through the box, run the wire through, seal it off with hot glue ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
SnowDrifter
This could help. That's for power wire. Speaker wire is a bit different. Higher voltage, lower amperage ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444

Broke_Audio_Addict
How long are the wires? 12 Guage should be fine for that. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals. Mr DeeBeez
what brand of wire? it might say on the plastic. If the wire is getting that hot it seems like there is way too much power going through too small of a wire. pics of wire?
