Audiocontrol Epicenter

Recommended Posts

  • 1 month later...

The purpose of an Epicenter is to restore bass which may be missing due to how the source was recorded. For example, if the audio was from a record or cassette (lol?) the bass may have been chopped off due to the lack of freq range the media or recording source. Since we are now in a digital world, this really isn't the case. However, you can use an Epicenter to over-exaggerate frequencies with an Epicenter. An Epicenter can add a whole new dimension to classic rock, or other recordings that may not be as heavy on bass.

I've got an epic160 collecting dust somewhere. There is no need for it now. It was decaf before decaf.

Isn't the epicenter and others just basically a gain for a for a given frequency range? So basically my epiccenter boosts frequencies 20hz-120hz by +3dB?

a gain knob for a given frequency range, I would think it just made tuning a PITA.

And you can't ever "recover" bass or restore it. No car audio appliance is going to do that. If you took the master tapes from the studio and re-master the mix that was put on tape or cd or whatever media thats a different story.

I'm going from memory here but I think it lowers the frequencies by a sixth octave or something like that

Not a fan. Introduced to much dirt in signal. Less is better. Sold it!
