LsChevy Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 i want to give pro audio speakers a try in my build since im going to be running a eq, hopefully i can tune them to my liking. What are to good ones to go with thats under $140. i dont know if i want two 6.5's or a 6.5 and a 8" in the front doors
reedal Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 If you're going to run active, a 6.5 and a 8 in each door would be good. 8 for mid bass and 6.5 for regular mid level frequencies SMD Tool Map https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/193176-smd-tool-map-new-november-2014/ Build log https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/197217-reeds-03-tahoe-hat-sqaq-singer-xs-shca-cockbox-80prs/?page=32
john253a Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 Do you plane to run active or passive Or a mix of both, The easiest is a mix of both, then you can use a 4ch amp v's needing a 6ch just for door if doin a 3 way I've done some with 3 ways doors +sub I set h/u at high pass 80hz to front, Split the rca's to all 4ch's so both have a highpass 80hz input then the 8" mids I lowpass on amp or eq if you have, so as it's now bandpassed, then I high pass the component set to same Hz ie. 320hz. That way you get good mids and use you component passive crosover to do upper mid and highs
LsChevy Posted May 12, 2015 Author Report Posted May 12, 2015 I don't have enough experience to run active and I'm not using a head unit. I bought a tablet to take the place of that. That's why I almost have to use a eq.
reedal Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 What passive crossovers are you using that offer an 8 & 6.5 option? SIDE SHOW Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 I'd go 5 1/4 for midrange and 8" for midbass dutys
LsChevy Posted May 13, 2015 Author Report Posted May 13, 2015 What you guys think of the fosgate punch pro's
john253a Posted May 13, 2015 Report Posted May 13, 2015 You can use the ppx4 As runs a pass through tweeter using 2x 4ohm either 8" or 6" mids will give you 2ohm load But your restricted to 125rms total with that set up as the crossovers don't like more power then that, It is designed for a p300.2 for the pp4x or 400.2 for the pp8x You could just get a punch pro 8" 4ohm Run a t1 or p series component Use you eq to hi pass the output at around 80-100hz unless it has a bandpass option Set your amp to lowpass on mids and set to around 300-350hz or if amp only goes to 250 set to that and lattet buy a lowpass 300-350 filter 8" taken care off Because you have already high passed you the supply nothing below 80-100 will be sent just set amp highpass on comp set to same setting unless you eq is capable of doing everything To make it easy what eq do you have
