dsw422
Hey guys.. So I'm building a box for one of my buddies.. it is an odd shaped box. One that I can't make in Torres. The box will be using 2 3 Inch pipe ports, 1 on either side of the sub. Anyway, I've been using 12volt.com to help find the volume and port length. I came up with around 2 cu.ft... so I plugged that in and port diameter of 3, and desired tuning of 40 htz. It told me I only need a length of justay under 4!!??? Is that right??? That would mean each port would only be less than 2 inches!! Did I plug it in right?? Thanks for the help guys.. This is the site I've been using, http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/boxcalcs.asp 2014 Ford Focus SE Sedan Factory Sony 10 Speaker Sound System 1994 Ford Bronco Dual head unit (i kno) Sony door speakers Kenwood Rear Speakers Custom Center console in the works. will house an NVX NSW10" https://m.facebook.com/WinnsCustomCarAudio/
Triticum Agricolam
What sub is this for and what amp? Two 3" ports isn't much port area. If you add more port area the ports will need to be longer, which may actually make thing easier in your case. dsw422
Thanks CstrokerV. I used that site to determine I need a minimum port diameter of 7.7in... so how do I use my 3 in ports to achieve that or better diameter?? 2014 Ford Focus SE Sedan Factory Sony 10 Speaker Sound System 1994 Ford Bronco Dual head unit (i kno) Sony door speakers Kenwood Rear Speakers Custom Center console in the works. will house an NVX NSW10" https://m.facebook.com/WinnsCustomCarAudio/
Skullz
Pretty easy to get the volume as long as you divide the box into squares and triangles. This might help. https://www.khanacademy.org/math/basic-geo/basic-geo-area-perimeter/basic-geo-area-perimeter-polygon/v/area-breaking-up-shape 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2

I rounded down to account for bracing, sub displacement and what not 2014 Ford Focus SE Sedan Factory Sony 10 Speaker Sound System 1994 Ford Bronco Dual head unit (i kno) Sony door speakers Kenwood Rear Speakers Custom Center console in the works. will house an NVX NSW10" https://m.facebook.com/WinnsCustomCarAudio/
Tarball
remember also that the larger your port is the more volume it will take inside the box, thereby changing your tuning frequency.
